Chronic illnesses are on the rise. There are more than 80 autoimmune conditions documented with some of  the more common being type 1 diabetes, celiac disease, multiple sclerosis (MS) and rheumatoid arthritis. Despite advances in health care treatments are limited, can have unwanted side effects and are often expensive.

The problem is we don’t really know what causes them and there are no cures. There are many theories about why including infections, genetic predisposition and toxins in the environment. Symptoms vary, and range from subtle to extreme, as for some reason the immune system gets confused and starts to attack healthy cells in the body.

Then we have the so called lifestyle dis-eases. Type 2 diabetes, syndrome X or metabolic syndrome, heart disease, alzheimers…the list goes on.

Maintaining good health is more than simply taking care of the different parts of our physical bodies, it incorporates emotional and spiritual aspects as well. The overall goal of holistic medicine is entire wellness, not simply a lack of disease or physical pain.

The epigenetic truth

Since the Human Genome project in 2003, the new science of epigenetics has sprung. Meaning “above the genes”, no longer are our genetics the only factor determining our destiny when it comes to dis-ease. There are many factors that contribute to our health including stress, environmental pollutants, diet, and exercise to name a few.

The whole self approach

The whole self approach gives your body every chance to do what it is designed to do – heal itself naturally. The body seeks balance and health. Providing what is needed and removing what is harmful makes it possible to restore and maintain that balance.

Many modern medical conditions are lifestyle related. Stress, trauma, poor diet, being sedentary including always putting yourself last, make your mind and body sick over time. Correct these bad habits and your health will improve.

A well-cared for body makes for a healthier mind, and vice versa. That is what holistic health and healing is all about.

It is your body’s nature to move toward healing and wellness when it has what it needs.

Working individually with people or in small groups, I incorporate science based principles alongside proven methods including coaching, hypnosis, nutrition and functional / lifestyle medicine principles into a holistic formula that can be sustainably applied to everyday life.

Together we can identify problems and find solutions that lead to lasting wellness.
